Goodness

This post is about the nature of God and us being made by His image.
There's a verse in the Bible that says: Every good and perfect gift comes from God.
That made me think after I went to the cinema to watch Noah. Noah gets a dream from God that reveals to him that He wants to destroy all mankind except for Noah and his family. Noah is able to see the wickedness in people and lets them know that they will be destroyed because of it. How sad must have that reality been? The wickedness was portrayed quite well in the film. People were eating living animals by just ripping off their limbs and traded women to other men and many more horrible things. How the very nature of a humanbeing (sin) was revealed by these actions. Life without God. Earth without God. And the image of God that I mentioned before- It all made sense to me a while back, when someone said that the 'image' that is mentioned is not actually the appearance of God but the fruit of the Spirit. I know most of you probably knew that already, but it was kind of a revelation to me at that time. The reason we are able to be kind, happy, loving, patient etc. is because we are made after God's image.
What if we weren't? We would never be able to trust anyone. There would be NO good in us, because every good and perfect gift comes from God. Imagine how exhausting that would be if for example you were a shopkeeper. You wouldn't be able to trust anyone who comes in the door to buy something. How would you be able to trust anyone of any trade. It just baffles my mind actually. Even if you're not a Christian, you are made after God's image. A part of God is within you. The good morals, common sense, kindness - it all comes from God because he created all of for our world.
I don't know if you have ever thought about it this way but for me it was certainly a mindblowing revelation. And I'm so thankful for God for His goodness that is within us.
